Nantz and fellow retired FBI agent Chris Hinkle were invited to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where they spent several hours with Director Patel discussing his leadership of the Bureau, his relationship with state and local law enforcement, changes inside FBI Headquarters, and his efforts to shift resources and authority back into the field. Nantz explains that the invitation grew out of his Townhall column, "The End of the Empty Suit Era," and a subsequent relationship that allowed him and Hinkle to provide Patel and his team with perspectives from retired FBI agents.
